Every day I am amazed at what can be accomplished by someone who sets their mind to something, follows the right path laid out for them and sticks with it on a consistent basis. I think it’s high time that I began sharing these awesome stories of personal achievement with everyone else so that we can all be inspired to take ownership and control of our health/fitness and really make a difference in our own lives.

As such, I am going to start a monthly article called “Client of the Month”—each month I will showcase one of my clients, their story, their successes and the sometimes bumpy road that it took for them to get to where they are today. Each of the people highlighted here deserves all the credit for their accomplishments and I am truly proud of each one of them!

My first Client of the Month is Monika Iannone, the winner of my Winter 2012 21 Day Inner Athlete Body Shock Challenge! Monika lost an insane 15 POUNDS in just 21 days through the program and absolutely blew me away with her results! Without further ado, here is Monika and her story of success!

During high school I was incredibly active and athletic. As a water polo player at one of the top programs in Southern California, my workouts consisted of at least three hours of practice a day, a few “double day” workouts a week, and off season weight lifting. This intensive regimen got me into fantastic shape. But the lack of crosstraining and balance in my workouts caused me to suffer a serious nerve injury in my shoulder. By the end of my senior year, I was hardly able to swim, had taken multiple cortisone shots, and had caused irreversible damage to my shoulder.

Once I got to college, I began using my injury as an excuse to not maintain my level of fitness. By the time I graduated I had lost muscle mass and gained about 15 pounds. After I graduated I went to work as a project engineer for a construction company. This work requires long hours and lots of hours in the car. As a result, my eating habits deteriorated and I was going through the drive thru almost every day. Within a year, I put on another 10 pounds. I had also lost any fitness I had and was barely able to motivate myself through 30 minutes on the elliptical a couple times a week.

I was upset with myself for neglecting my health, did not like how my body looked, and my clothes weren’t fitting. It was at this time that I met Ben and he told me about his bootcamp and 21 day body shock challenge. I love how his program is focused on turning his clients into athletes by incorporating fitness and nutrition. The 21 day body shock challenge laid out every step to be followed over three weeks and all I had to do was follow the steps that were laid out in front of me. Ben also took my injury into account with every workout and provided effective modifications to exercises so that I could still achieve maximum results. In doing so, I lost 15 pounds and 8″ over the course of the challenge.

My favorite thing about Ben and his program is that he cares so genuinely about his clients. It is so obvious that he believes in my goals and is giving me all of the tools that I need to reach them. If I ever have a question, I can text/email/call/Facebook Ben and he gives me detailed answers tailored to my success.

I could not be happier with my results over the first month. My friends, family, and co-workers have all noticed my weight loss and I am stronger and capable of more during a workout than I have been able to in years. It’s amazing to me that this has all happened in a little more than a month. I am so excited to work with Ben on losing the remaining weight and completing my ultimate goal of running a triathlon. I cannot thank Ben enough for reawakening the athlete inside me!

Monika is killing it every day in class and making amazing progress each and every workout. It will be amazing to see what she accomplishes over the next year… keep it up girl!
